WAN/LAN: No internet connection on Airport Extreme Basestation or Airport Express
If you are having problems connecting your Wii to a Airport Extreme Basestation or your Airport Express listen up. Jeff Faulkner has put together a quick tutorial that allows you to fix an apparently common Wii problem when using the Airport Extreme Basestation or Airport Express. The Wii will connect to the network and appear to be working, but will not sustain a connection to the Internet.
Solution: You need to enter the “Equivalent Network Password” for non-airport devices. Here’s what you do…
1. Open the Airport Admin Utility.
2. Click on “Configure” in the window’s toolbar.
3. From the topbar click on the “Base Station” dropdown and mouse-down to “Equivalent Network Password.”
4. It will first list your ASCII password and then offer up the Hex equivalent. (My ASCII pw was 13 digits therefore my Hex equivalent was 26 digits.
5. Use the Hex string instead of the ASCII in your Wii settings.
He notes that this works well for the DSlite also.
